The Baruch Bearcats shot 53 percent (31-59) to defeat their rival Hunter College Hawks by the score of 80-61 in a CUNYAC road contest on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex in New York City.
With the result, the women's basketball team end the CUNYAC portion of their regular season schedule with an undefeated record of 13-0.
In addition, the Bearcats have now won at least 20 games and the CUNYAC North Division Title in each of the past seven seasons with Machli Joseph as Head Coach.
The #1-seeded Bearcats (20-4, 13-0 CUNYAC) will host the #8-seed (To Be Announced) in a CUNYAC quarterfinal round playoff on Saturday, February 19th, at a time to be determined. The entire championship tournament schedule is expected to announced on Monday night by the CUNYAC Athletic Conference.
Camille Voitotled four Baruch players this evening in double-figure scoring with 18 points (7-11 fg), while Regina Washington(five steals) and Folashade Akinde(10 rebounds) finished with 16 points each. Megan Bouwenshad a strong performance with 13 points (6-8 fg), five rebounds and two steals.
The Baruch defense forced Hunter (9-14, 6-6 CUNYAC) into committing 18 turnovers and limited their shooting to 32 percent (18-57) from the field.
The women's basketball team will finish their overall regular season schedule on Tuesday, February 15th, with a 7:00 pm contest in Hartford, Connecticut against Trinity from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
The two teams were previously scheduled to play on February 1st, but the non-conference game was postponed by a snow/ice storm.
