Three Westminster Players Post Double-Doubles in Loss to Saint Vincent

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - After leading briefly in the second half, the Westminster College women's basketball team lost to visiting Saint Vincent, 72-62, Wednesday in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) openers. Westminster falls to 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in the PAC, while Saint Vincent improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the league.

Three different Titans posted double-doubles led by sophomore guard Courtney Zitt posting her first career double-double as she led Westminster with 14 points to go with a career-high 11 rebounds. She also tied for the team lead with three assists.

The other two Westminster players to reach double figures in points and rebounds were junior forward Katie Hughes with 13 points and 10 boards and senior forward Emily Dolsak with 11 points and 11 caroms. Hughes' double-double was the fourth of her career and Dolsak's was her seventh and the second time this season that she totaled season highs of 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Brittany Sedlock led Saint Vincent with 20 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Elle Collins with 11 points, five rebounds and a team-high four assists.

Saint Vincent led by as many as 12 points in the first half but Westminster narrowed the margin to five at halftime, 36-31, before being outscored again by a 36-31 count in the second half.

Westminster took a one-point, 43-42 lead with just under 15 minutes left but the Titans' only lead of the game lasted just 18 seconds. The Titans tied the game on two other occasions before Saint Vincent took a permanent lead with four minutes left.

The Titans outrebounded the Bearcats 54-25 but Westminster committed 27 turnovers to Saint Vincent's 16.

Westminster travels to Waynesburg Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
