GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Behind a career-high 26 points from senior Bryn Cotteta, Gwynedd-Mercy posted its fourth win in a row in an 84-71 CSAC win over visiting Centenary Wednesday night.

Freshman Jess Rotella added 18 points while sophomore Natasha Matthews chipped in 17 points and seven boards off the bench as the Griffins (9-6, 5-1 CSAC) broke open a close game late in the second half.

Danielle Trucksess was one of five Cyclones in double figures, finishing with a team-high 19 points. Hannah Ally contributed 12 points and a game-high 12 caroms.

Cotteta, who was 6-of-10 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, sank five of the Griffins' seven treys on the evening. She also added a game-high six assists and had three steals.

Gwynedd-Mercy would close out a very tight first half by scoring six-straight points, in taking a 42-35 lead at break. Centenary (9-5, 3-3 CSAC) stayed within striking distance, getting within six points (57-51) with 7:57 to play. The Griffins then made their move in pulling away, netting six points in a row capped off with a big three-pointer from sophomore Lauren Smith, to stretch their lead to 64-51.

GMC only got to the charity stripe eight times in the first half, went 22-for-32 in the second, including a perfect 8-for-8 in the last minute to help cement their fourth-straight win.

The teams shot exactly 39.7% (25-of-63) for the contest. Centenary edged Gwynedd-Mercy on the glass, 45-41, but were forced into 25 turnovers to GMC's 18.

Freshman Shea Wassel snared a team-high nine rebounds.
