Rose Goes Over 1,000 as #7 Mount Union Wins 74-56 at Marietta; Raiders Win 16th Straight

MARIETTA, Ohio -- Senior forward Amanda Rose (Green/Green) scored 16 points to become the 13th player in school history to score over 1,000 career points and led No. 7 ranked Mount Union to a 74-56 win at Marietta.

The Purple Raiders move to 21-1 overall, extend their school-record win streak to 16 games and maintained first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference at 14-1.

Mount Union can clinch at least a share of the OAC regular season title with a win Saturday at 3 pm at Ohio Northern.

Along with Rose, senior guard Kori Wiedt (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) had 11 points while junior point guard Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) and senior forward Erin Schmidt (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) each had 10 points.

Rose joins Wiedt and LaMattina as Raiders with over 1,000 career points -- It is the first time in school history three 1,000-point scorers have been on the active roster at the same time.

Aleisha Guiler had game-highs with 21 points and 10 rebounds for Marietta (9-13, 4-11 OAC).

With score tied at 5, Mount Union went on an 11-2 run and never looked back as the Raiders extended the lead to as many as 25 points before taking a commanding 48-24 lead into the half.

Mount Union forced 23 turnovers and scored 20 points off those miscues while the Raiders outscored Marietta 40-22 in the paint.
