BUFFALO, NY--The Medaille College Lady Mavericks hosted the Mount Aloysius Mounties Saturday afternoon and the Mavericks used a strong first half to finish a (81-61) win. They Lady Mavs finished with five players in double figures for the game for the first time all season.
An early first half attack that led to 50 first half points gave the Mavericks a 22 point lead heading into halftime. They can attribute that to strong defense and solid shooting. In the half, the Mavericks hit (64.5%) of their shots including (66.7%) from behind the arc. Also, their strong defense held Mount Aloysius to (33.3%) shooting in the half as well.
The second half was more competitive as the Mount Aloysius outscored Medaille in the second half 33-31. The Mavericks did continue to press defensively which held the Mounties to (36.1%) shooting in the second half and (23.1%) from behind the arc.
As for scoring, the Mavericks were led by Joelle Pollak who finished the day with (21) points, which puts her at 6th all time in women's scoring at Medaille with 990 points. She also contributed (7) rebounds and (5) assists.
In addition, Brittney Rowland chipped in (15) points on 6 of 7 shooting and dished out (6) assists. Brittnee Perry finished the day with her second double-double in consecutive games ending the day with (10) points and (10) rebounds. Morgan Howe finished with (8) points and (8) rebounds as well.
The Lady Mavs (10-5, 8-1) will finish their homestand Tuesday night when they host Hamilton College at 6 p.m. in the Sullivan Center before hitting the road to play three straight road conference games.
