Big Blue Women Lose Wild One to North Central

          The Millikin women's basketball team lost to North Central College 78-65 on Feb. 19 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill.  Millikin ends the 2012-13 season with a record of 8-16, 3-11.  North Central stands at 13-12, 6-8.  The Cardinals win coupled with losses by North Park and Elmhurst put North Central in fourth place in the conference and earned them a spot in the CCIW Tournament.

          Frantic was the word of the night at the Griswold Center as North Central brought its pressing, run and shot game into town.  While the final score was well below North Central's season average the game contained plenty of fast paced action.

The game featured 70 turnovers (41 by Millikin and 29 by North Central), 30 steals (19 by North Central and 11 by Millikin), 102 rebounds (48 by Millikin, 47 by North Central and seven dead ball rebounds) and 140 shots.  North Central was 26-75 from the field for 35 percent while Millikin went 30-65 (46 percent).  North Central converted on 22-28 from the free throw line and Millikin hit on only 5-17.

          Millikin was led in scoring by Brittany Czaplicki with 20 points and seven rebounds.  Freshman Kelsey Going had 16 points and a team high eight rebounds. 

          North Central's got 14 points each from Bobbi Johns and Larynn Shumaker.
