The Millikin women's basketball team lost to Maryville College (Tenn.) 56-50 on Nov. 23 at Centre College in Danville, Ky.
For the second game in a row, Millikin got off to a slow start with Maryville pulling out to a 21-8 lead, before the Big Blue got on track making it a 27-20 Scots lead at halftime. Millikin battled back in the second half tying the game at 45-45 with 6:17 left to play, but Maryville pulled away in the game's final minutes to secure the victory.
Millikin shot 30 percent for the game while the Scots shot 28 percent from the field. Maryville forced Millikin into 17 turnovers while committing only eight resulting in seven more shots for the Scots in the game. Millikin won the rebounding battle 48-43.
Brittany Czaplicki led Millikin with 16 points and nine rebounds. Bria Williams had a team high 12 boards and seven points.
Mackenzie Puckett led Maryville with 16 points.
Millikin will take a little time off for Thanksgiving before returning to action on Dec. 6 when they host Simpson College at 7 p.m.
