Tommies soar to 22-0 start

Senior guard Jenna Dockter scored 21 points to lead five Tommies in double figures as No. 2-ranked St. Thomas clinched a share of the MIAC women's basketball championship with Wednesday night's 73-56 home win over St. Catherine at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (22-0 overall, 15-0 MIAC) have won either the conference regular-season or playoff title in each of the last six seasons. They improved to 11-0 at home this winter. They can secure the outright MIAC crown with one win or one Bethel loss in the final three games of the regular season between Feb. 14-21.

Audra Clark scored 18 points and Lashay Holt dropped in 17 for St. Catherine (7-15, 2-13).

Katie Stone and Hannah Hughes each scored 12 points for the Tommies. Anna Smith added 10 points and three steals, and Maggie Weiers had 10 points and seven boards. UST shot 47 percent from the floor and had a 38-24 rebounding advantage.

The Toms used a 15-2 run en route to a 38-25 halftime lead. The Wildcats never got closer than nine in the second half.

St. Thomas plays Saturday at Concordia-Moorhead.
