The women's basketball team lost a 67-55 CUNYAC contest to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College on Friday night in Brooklyn, New York.
The turning point of the game took place midway through the third period when the Bulldogs went on a 13-0 run, highlighted by three consecutive 3-pointers, to break open a tight contest to take a 40-30 advantage with 2:06 left in the third.
The visiting Bearcats managed to cut the deficit to five (40-35) to end the third period, but the Bulldogs came back again in the fourth with a game-busting 16-2 run en route to the home victory at the West Quad Center.
Veronica Ganziled the Bearcats this evening with 21 points, followed by Kristen Podlovitswith 16 points and Jacqueline Kennedywith 10 points/12 rebounds.
Lauren Smithrecorded her intercollegiate debut with seven points and four rebounds. The team finished shooting 29 percent (16-for-56) in the tough loss.
Olivia Colbert led the home team with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulldogs finished shooting 36 percent (26-for-72).
The women's basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, January 12, with a 6:00 pm non-conference home contest against No. 2 nationally-ranked Amherst College.
