Franklin Hosting Hanover at HCAC Midpoint on Wednesday

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College women's basketball team will host rival Hanover College on Wednesday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Spurlock Center.

The Grizzlies are coming off of 73-53 home win over Anderson University last Saturday. The team is 10-5 on the season and is in a three-way tie for second place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) with a 6-2 league mark.

Wednesday's contest will conclude the first half of the conference schedule.

In lieu of paid game admission, the athletic department will accept donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, or cash -- benefiting the Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County.

Senior Katie Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) leads Franklin in scoring (13.2 points per game), while ranking second in the HCAC in rebounding (9.6 per game). She is averaging 14.4 points and 9.4 rebounds in league games, while making 64 percent of her field goals. The forward leads the conference with 34 blocked shots.

Junior Lauren DeSutter (Pittsboro, Ind./Tri-West) is averaging 11.4 points per game this season and has a team-high 38 assists and 22 steals. She is making 39.5 percent of her three-point field goal attempts on the season, which is fifth best in the conference.

Junior Kayle Comer (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) is averaging 10.5 points per contest for the season and 19.5 points in the past two games. She leads the team with 28 three-point field goals and has made 43.7 percent of her shots from beyond the arc in HCAC games.

Hanover is scoring 76.3 points per game, with two players totaling more than 11 points per contest. Allison Nash leads the team at 16.3 points per outing, while Claire Cromer is averaging 11.7 points a game. Nash also leads the team at 8.3 rebounds per game.
