Empire 8 Release

ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
The Empire 8 Conference has honored both Danielle Cleary '18 and Brittany Boyce '21 with end-of-season awards, as Cleary was named to the E8 All-Conference Second Team and Boyce was tabbed as the Elmira College's Sportswoman of the Year.

Cleary and Boyce were a part of an EC team that won 13 games this season, the most since the 2013-14 campaign. Elmira started the year on fire, as the Purple and Gold won their first seven games, the best start to a season in program history.

Cleary, a key component of that fantastic start, received her fourth consecutive E8 All-Conference award, becoming the first Soaring Eagle to accomplish the feat since Kourtney Troutman '08. The Rochester, New York, native led Elmira with 14.4 points per game and 56 3-pointers, while ranking third in rebounds (6.2) and assists per game (2.2). In conference, she ranked second in made treys per game (2.2) and sixth in scoring.

In her final collegiate season, Cleary joined some of EC's greats on the program's all-time leaderboards. With 361 points this year, the 5-foot-8-inch guard moved into second among Elmira's all-time scoring leaders with 1,511 career points. Cleary also became the program's all-time free-throw leader with 384, while ranking second with 185 made 3-pointers in her tenure. Her 598 career rebounds are the fourth-most in program history. With her name on a litany of other program records, Cleary will be remembered as one of the greatest to don the Purple and Gold.

Boyce, a rookie from Tioga, Pennsylvania, appeared in seven games this season. Boyce's season highlight came in Elmira's 73-41 victory over Clarks Summit on December 5, when she played a season-high 12 minutes and posted a pair of assists. As a member of the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team, Boyce was recognized for "Competing with Honor and Integrity," which the conference emphasizes as an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission.
