Bethany Women's Basketball Opens PAC Play Against Saint Vincent

BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women's basketball team fell to Saint Vincent (Pa.) College by a final score of 62-57 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener on Joe Kurey Memorial Court at Hummel Fieldhouse.

Bethany (2-5, 0-1 PAC) Leaders

  • Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Bison while also recording seven rebounds and three assists
  • Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) added 13 points and three rebounds
  • Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) tied a game-high 10 rebounds for her second 10+ rebound performance of the year
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC guard Addy Blazer (Hanoverton, Ohio/Beaver Local) finished with six points, five rebounds, and four steals
  • Sophomore guard Shaelyn Anthony (Surprise, Ariz./Shadow Ridge) also contributed seven points for the Green and White offense

Saint Vincent (5-3, 1-0 PAC) Leaders

  • Senior forward Makenna Maier shot 5-for-11 from deep on her way to a game-high 23 points
  • Senior forward Camdon Basher posted a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double
  • Sophomore guard Brooke Evans led the team in assists with four and in steals with three

First Quarter (SVC 17-6)

  • Botti found junior Academic All-PAC forward Josie Stone (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) for her first bucket of the year with two minutes left in the quarter

Second Quarter (SVC 29-28)

  • The Bison stormed back with a 22-point quarter including 17 unanswered points
  • Bethany was 11-for-15 from the line to supply half of the team's points in the period

Third Quarter (SVC 44-40)

  • The Green and White owned the glass by an 11-7 margin

Fourth Quarter (SVC 62-57)

  • A pair of Simpson free throws gave the Bison a one-point lead with 1:46 left to play

The Bison are back in action on Wednesday, December 10 as they host a Presidents' Athletic Conference game against Chatham (Pa.) University at 5:30 p.m. on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Fieldhouse.
