BALTIMORE – The #RV William Paterson women's basketball team (10-1, 5-0 NJAC) was handed its first loss of the 2025-26 campaign after falling, 64-43, at No. 5 Johns Hopkins (10-0, 2-0 Centennial) in the JHU Women's Basketball Classic Jan. 3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- William Paterson shot 9-for-18 (.500) in the opening quarter while limiting the Blue Jays to 4-of-16 (.250) shooting, resulting in a three-point edge (20-17) in favor of the Pioneers after 10 minutes of action.
- Johns Hopkins took control of the game, grabbing an 18-point advantage (47-29) after outscoring the Pioneers, 30-9, over the ensuing 20 minutes.
- The Pioneers could not overcome the large deficit and the fifth-ranked Blue Jays secured the 64-43 home win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior Renee Wells scored a game-high 16 points to pair with seven rebounds.
- Junior Jada Jacobs logged nine points, seven rebounds and four steals.
- Graduate student Megan Sears finished with eight points and five boards.
UP NEXT:
- William Paterson will wrap up the JHU Women's Basketball Classic Sunday, Jan. 4, with a 1:00 p.m. game against Medgar Evers.
