Bethany Women's Basketball Tops Methodist on Holiday Roadtrip

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Bethany College women's basketball team defeated Methodist (N.C.) University by a final score of 65-52 in a non-conference game in the Riddle Center.

Bethany (5-5) Leaders

  • Senior Academic All-PAC forward Kaedlee Potter (Barboursville, W.Va./Cabell Midland) led the team in scoring with 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting and added a team-best four assists
  • Freshman guard Dekotah Barnes (Cleveland, Ohio/Cornerstone Christian Academy) finished with a statline of six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two points
  • Sophomore Academic All-PAC guard Addy Blazer (Hanoverton, Ohio/Beaver Local) recorded a career-high seven steals while also scoring eight points for the Bison
  • Junior Academic All-PAC forward Kate Botti (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) and graduate All-PAC guard Lindsey Garrison (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park) each scored seven and grabbed five boards and four boards, respectively
  • Sophomore guard Ella Simpson (Morgantown, W.Va./University) fell one rebound shy of a double-double ending the day with 10 points and nine rebounds

Methodist (3-7) Leaders

  • Sophomore guard Korin Gladden tallied a team-high 12 points, two assists, and two blocks
  • Sophomore forward Jada Richardson finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals
  • Sophomore guard Giavonna Dunlap also reached double figures with 11 points

First Quarter (Bethany 16-6)

  • Junior forward Josie Stone (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) scored four of her six points and added a rebound
  • Blazer and Barnes led the Bethany defense by posting two steals each

Second Quarter (Bethany 31-18)

  • Garrison scored all seven of her points while Potter added four of her 13 on the day
  • Bethany forced 13 turnovers leading to nine points in transition

Third Quarter (Bethany 44-30)

  • The Bison bench scored 10 of the team's 13 points in the quarter
  • Sophomore guard Amaria Jones (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) scored four of her six points to lead the Bison into the final period

Fourth Quarter (Bethany 65-52)

  • Sophomore guard Yazmin Aricayos (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) scored her first collegiate points to extend the Green and White lead to 16 with nine minutes left to play
  • The Bison outrebounded the Monarchs by a 13-6 margin

The Bison are back in action on Tuesday, December 30 as they travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on William Peace (N.C.) University in a non-conference game at 2 p.m. in the Hermann Athletic Center.
